Special Issue «Urban Well-being: Harnessing Geospatial Technologies for Environmental and Health-Centric Urban Planning and Zonation»

As urban areas expand, the urgent need to tackle issues like pollution, climate change, and public health becomes increasingly evident. Geospatial technologies are not just a theoretical concept but a practical way to address these challenges. By capturing and analysing spatial data, these tools allow us to make informed decisions for more effective urban planning and zoning. The synergy between geospatial technologies and urban planning is a transformative force, moving beyond theoretical discussions to practical, data-driven strategies.

This special issue seeks to uncover how geospatial tools can be applied to solve real-world problems in urban development. By exploring the connection between environmental sustainability and public health in cities, the issue aims to inspire innovative solutions. It serves as a rallying point for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to rethink urban planning approaches. The goal is not just to tap into the potential of geospatial technologies but to reshape how we plan and build cities, fostering resilience, adaptability, and a harmonious balance between human progress and environmental well-being.

Sub-Themes:

1. Data Driven for Sustainable Planning.
2. Green Spaces and Urban Heat Island (UHI) Mitigation.
3. Urban Environmental health and Epidemiology.
4. Urban Resources Management and Optimization.

Submission Guidelines:

Authors are invited to submit original research articles, reviews, and case studies that contribute to the understanding of geospatial technologies' role in urban planning, with a focus on environmental and health aspects. Submissions should address the outlined sub-themes and emphasize practical applications and implications for comprehensive and sustainable urban development.
