Pilyasov Alexander N.

Pilyasov Alexander Nikolaevich has more than 250 scientific papers, including 37 monographs.

His research interests center around three main topics. The first direction is the study of the economic and social development of the Russian North and the Arctic in retrospect of the last 60 years and with the forecast for the development strategy of these territories until 2035. The development of this topic is provided by wide comparisons of the Russian, Canadian, American, European models of  the development of the Arctic regions.

The second direction is the study of the laws and characteristics of the post-industrial transformation of the Russian regions, how regional knowledge economy is evolving in them, with a special emphasis on the institutional aspects of modernization of the economy of Russian regions.

The third area is an analysis of leading schools, theoretical concepts, works of intellectual leaders of European regional science based on publications in leading world journals of regional science and reports at the annual congresses of the European Regional Science Association.

Pilyasov A.N. is a Member of the Expert Council on the Arctic and Antarctic (Deputy Chairman of the Economic Section) under the Chairman of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Member of the Presidium of the Expert Council on the Arctic and North at the Russian Federal Duma.

Pilyasov A.N. had been the head of dozen of major international and Russian research projects. He is the chairman of the Russian section of the European Association of Regional Science and was the Chief scientific secretary of the 54th Congress of the European Regional Science Association in St. Petersburg (August 26-29, 2014).

Pilyasov A.N. has awards of the federal and regional executive bodies: - a medal in connection with the 850th anniversary of Moscow (awarded in 1997 by the Chairman of the State Committee for the Sever of Russia), the anniversary sign of the Republic of Sakha-Yakutia “380 years of Yakutia with Russia” (awarded in 2012), a commemorative medal of the Council for Research for Productive Forces “For Contribution to Science” (awarded in 2013), title “Veteran of Labor” (awarded in 2014), thanks from the Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (2015); certificate of honor of the Russian Academy of Sciences (awarded in 2015) and many others.
