Different types of combinations of plant communities (phytocoenochores) were determined in the vegetation structure of the Eastern Steppe Station Tumén-Tsogt (in Sukhebator district). Temporal dynamics of steppe ecosystems was defined from the studies of steppe cover fluctuations in 2008. The coenotic role of eight annual plant species that form synusiae in the steppe communities was shown through analysis of species constancy, projective cover, and activity. Knowledge about the trend of successions and the manifestation of fluctuations in vegetation cover is necessary for the development of science-based system of management options to maintain the number and abundance of different plant groups in plant communities. Monitoring the state of natural ecosystems has a major scientific and practical importance, since steppe ecosystems are the basic component of the pasture’s resources of the country.</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>steppe ecosystem</kwd><kwd>vegetation structure</kwd><kwd>biodiversity</kwd><kwd>annual species</kwd><kwd>fluctuations</kwd><kwd>dynamics of communities</kwd><kwd>monitoring</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Ecosystems of Mongolia: Distribution and current conditions (1995) Moscow: Nauka. 223 p.</mixed-citation><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">Ecosystems of Mongolia: Distribution and current conditions (1995) Moscow: Nauka. 223 p.</mixed-citation></citation-alternatives></ref><ref id="cit2"><label>2</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">(In Russian).</mixed-citation><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">(In Russian).</mixed-citation></citation-alternatives></ref><ref id="cit3"><label>3</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Glazovskaya M.A. (1988) Geochemistry of natural and anthropogenic landscapes of the</mixed-citation><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">Glazovskaya M.A. (1988) Geochemistry of natural and anthropogenic landscapes of the</mixed-citation></citation-alternatives></ref><ref id="cit4"><label>4</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">USSR.
